A captivating sensory tool that also functions as a timer!
The Twist Timer is a calming and mesmerising device, that also demonstrates some basic scientific principles.
Each timer contains coloured fluid of different densities. To create the droplets, the liquids inside the timer must be immiscible or mutually insoluble. This means that the coloured liquid won't mix with or dissolve into the other coloured liquid or the clear liquid.
Because they don't mix we can observe gravity at work with the two heavier coloured liquids always flowing to the bottom of the timer.
The Twist Timer may also help with concentration. The visual stimulation of the predicable, rhythmic and flowing motion of the Large Timer provides a subtle, engaging opportunity to refine visual tracking skills, with the spinning wheels adding to the appeal.
